Lessons. Camps. Coaching. Pura Vida.

I’m Yohan Mendez, a local that has been surf coaching here in Nosara since 2004. My childhood is rooted in surfing on these beaches and spending my early days running free to return home only after sunset… completely exhausted.

That was 1997 and surfing was just getting discovered in this area. My passion is to share my love of surfing with other people with the hope that they will be challenged and love it as much as I do. I work well with families, beginners of all ages, intermediate and advanced levels.

I cater to the needs of each individual. Whatever your age, experience and ability, I will design a program to improve your surfing and that will be a fun and positive experience.

FAQs

How do I pay?

I take PayPal (plus taxes and transaction fees), ACH/wire transfer (plus taxes and transaction fees) or cash. A 50% deposit is requested at time of booking.

What equipment do I need?

You’re welcome to use ours or you can bring your own. This includes boards, leashes and rash guards.

What should I bring?

Wetsuits are not necessary for warmth but please bring what you are most comfortable wearing. For example, long sleeves, surf-style leggings and tie on hat to protect from the sun and chafe from the board. Water and sunblock are also good ideas. Leaving valuables at home is also good practice.

Will I be surfing with other people?

Once a lesson is booked, you will receive a questionnaire. From there a customized program is put together for you, depending on your skills and experience. We want to make sure your experience with us is as positive as possible.

Should I bring my camera?

I recommend not to bring a camera as there is the risk of damage or theft. Professional photography and video can be arranged and is a great way to capture the moment.

When are you open?

We work Monday-Sunday.

Do I need insurance?

We strongly recommend you book travel insurance that covers you in the event of injury and/or forced cancellation for any unforeseen circumstances including COVID-19 and other natural disasters.

Do you work with kids?

Absolutely! I work with all levels and ages.
